Chris Becker, President, Bionix
Bionix® is a quality driven, service oriented, multi-national company committed to acquiring, developing, manufacturing and marketing innovative single-patient use medical products that help people. The company’s products aim to improve the health and personal care of every family around the world, and empower talented and inspiring people to enhance medical treatments.
For over 35 years, Bionix has continued to evolve in the marketplace throughout the continuum of care. Their products embody the standards of healthcare to enrich the lives across all stages of life, from newborns to aging adults. In 1984, Doctor Andrew Milligan Ph.D., a professor in Radiation Oncology at the Medical College of Ohio at Toledo, and Doctor James Huttner, M.D., Ph.D., a practicing pediatrician, founded Bionix Development Corporation. The company was built on the inventions of two medical professionals who believed that simple solutions can improve patient care. Their product solutions continue to be developed through collaborating on inventive solutions with industry professionals. The opportunity to work directly with the Bionix Product Development Team permits a unique partnership to enhance traditional products and procedures. “We are always looking for exciting new products. There’s no need for a prototype or initial design work. We help take the idea and bring it to conception,” says Cody Harder, Manager of Product Development Team.
Bionix products cater to various market segments but serve primarily in Pediatric, Nutrition & Feeding, Ear & Nasal Care, Injection Relief and Wound Care. They focus on developing practical devices that are unique and offer an innovative solution to everyday problems. All ideas are submitted through several sources and are reviewed for relevancy by the Product Development Team.

The team then assigns a score based on the analysis and criteria of FDA Class, Product Patent Status, Single Use or Single Patent Use, and Ease of Product Use/Understanding. Concepts that meet the criteria are evaluated by the Bionix cross-functional team for prioritization.
The Product Development team works directly with the inventor and/or trusted industry contacts to gather all information available for the concept to be submitted and reviewed for final evaluation. Bionix finalizes the details of the partnership with the inventor after all information has been reviewed. It is the policy of Bionix to share any and all information gathered throughout the idea evaluation process with the inventor.
Bionix products are designed and held to a quality of standards and medical regulations. As a company they hold and operate a Quality Management System which complies with the requirements of ISO 13485 for Medical Devices. Evaluated on a quarterly basis, Bionix demonstrates their commitment to design, manufacture, test and sell medical devices that consistently meet the needs of their customers and regulatory requirements.
“We have raised the bar for expectations on new product development, quality control, inventory management, sales segmentation and marketing tactics to ensure that we are a brand built on innovation yet can deliver an inquisitive nature of experience and empathy with an ever-evolving approach,” said Chris Becker, President of Bionix.
Built on innovation, Bionix continues to unite doctors, nurses, medical supply experts and inventors who see the medical device industry through a different lens. A lens of curiosity that is wrapped in knowledge and experience. A perspective that since 1984 has helped them to develop products that are so simple, yet so impactful, they have become known by their customers to provide real innovation.
